Pair of Teckel Lounge Chair by Michel Mortier. Ed. Steiner
Designed by Michel Mortier for Steiner in the 1950s, the “Teckel” model is distinguished by its soft, enveloping lines combined with a low structure of particularly modern proportions. The curved armrests create a continuous flowing movement around the seat, giving the armchairs a fluid and instantly recognizable silhouette. Resting on dark stained wooden bases, the design develops a warm yet minimalist aesthetic characteristic of postwar French furniture. The generous volumes and deep seating provide remarkable comfort while maintaining a strong sense of formal purity. Michel Mortier is considered one of the major figures of 1950s French design alongside Pierre Guariche and Joseph-André Motte. With the “Teckel” model, he created a balanced and timeless design that has become emblematic of both Steiner editions and postwar French modernism. The armchairs are presented in their original upholstery; however, reupholstery should be considered. Our in-house workshop can undertake a complete restoration, offering fabric selections that respect the period and character of the pieces.
