Art Deco Sideboard: overview of the sideboard

Art Deco Sideboard by Victor Courtray

This imposing sideboard was made in the far-off 1940s and has maintained its captivating geometric visage ever since. Its straight forward general silhouette made of oak is crowned with a bevelled surface. Under it, four hypnotic doors adorned with concentric circles centred in a thick square frame, shelter three different sections of furniture. In the left door segment there are four large drawers. The large segment in the centre has adjustable shelves, as does the one on the right of the cabinet. The sideboard stands on four flat, ringed columns, and below these, a one-piece mahogany horizontal leg underscores the elegant piece. The entire set has its original patina to highlight the age of the work, but it can be restored, if desired, by our ebanist for its future owner. Like all of Victori Courtray's creations, this piece is distinguished by geometric ornaments and cubic shapes, typical of the regionalist art deco of the time.
