Modernist Armchair in the Style of Adnet – France, 1930

This French modernist armchair from the 1930s features a compact, enveloping silhouette characteristic of the transition between Art Deco and modernist furniture. Its generous volumes, rounded lines, and low proportions give the piece a presence that is at once restrained, sculptural, and deeply elegant. Fully upholstered in brown velvet beautifully patinated by time, the armchair retains its original fabric, now marked by age and wear, reinforcing the authentic and lived-in character of the piece. The dark stained wooden ball feet provide a strong visual grounding and emphasize the simple geometry of the design. Through the remarkable balance of its proportions and the softness of its curves, this armchair possesses a rare and timeless beauty. Its refined lines and solid construction recall the French modernist creations of the 1930s in the spirit of Jacques Adnet and the leading decorators of the period. The armchair is presented with its original upholstery; however, reupholstery is recommended. Our in-house atelier can undertake a complete restoration, offering fabric selections that respect the period and character of the piece.
