Daybed In The Manner of Garouste & Bonetti - France, 1980s

This daybed unfolds with a free, almost organic silhouette, defined by a flowing line that gently rises toward the backrest. The deliberate asymmetry and the tension between solid volumes and stretched curves reflect a distinctly 1980s vocabulary, where function gives way to a more expressive and sculptural approach. The deep red velvet captures light with intensity, revealing a subtle and vibrant patina. Slight variations in tone and shifting reflections animate the surface, giving the piece a sensual and lively presence rather than a uniform finish.
