Art Deco Table - France, 1940

Made in France around 1940, this Art Deco table has a rectangular top decorated with geometric marquetry. A broad border frames the pattern, which alternates golden and brown tones. Four substantial legs support the top, with horizontal mouldings accenting their lower sections. Curved stretchers joined by a longitudinal rail form an open base with a distinctly architectural character. The table can be used with one or two extension leaves, allowing the top to be lengthened to suit the desired configuration.
